This glass fly is a microcosmic marvel of lampworking artistry. The artisan wields a blowpipe as a brush, fusing 1,700°C molten glass into a liquid poem—its translucent blue body shimmers like moonlight trapped in the deep sea, iridescent with mother-of-pearl hues. Delicate bubbles in the wings mimic dewdrops clinging to butterfly wings at dawn, while the sacrificial glass technique forms its scarlet compound eyes, their spiral pupils preserving the fingerprints of fire.
Every detail brims with biological tension: six obsidian-black glass legs curl like Gothic spires, and antennae drawn into filaments refract light like obsidian. This paradoxical aesthetic revives the Warring States dragonfly-eye glass beads technique—once used in Han Dynasty funerary art to symbolize rebirth, now reimagined as a Lovecraftian totem. The fly’s posture echoes the "ever-victorious" homophone in Chinese, while its crimson eyes repurpose the Han glass cicada’s imagery of transcendence.

Mounted on an ebony base, it transforms into a Cthulhu-esque relic: light piercing the blue glass casts tremulous shadows, evoking bioluminescent warnings from abyssal creatures. Like wabi-sabi philosophy, the intentional bubbles and irregularities become signatures of handcraft, turning this piece into a wearable surrealist fable—for those bold enough to gaze into the abyss.
